A common practice in digital gardens is to apply a stage to each note.
| Stage | Description |
|---|---|
| Seed | Initial stage of a note, just an idea at this phase, unsure whether it will ever be developed further |
| Seedling | First work on the note has been done, needs further work |
| Sapling | Not fully emerged note |
| Tree | A fully grown note, some sort of evergreen note |
| Withered | Outdated, kept for archival purposes |
| Stone | Input notes, based on other people‘s content. |
| Maps | A note made for navigation, usually consisting of a lot of links. |
